What is Domain Privacy?
For each domain name that you register, anyone - anywhere, anytime - can find out your name, address, phone number, and email address.
The law requires that the personal information you provide with every domain you register be made public in the "WHOIS" database. Your identity becomes instantly available to the public and vulnerable to spammers, etc.
Whenever you purchase a Domain Name from NetSelect, you have the option of enrolling the domain in Private Domain Registration which will block your personal information from being viewable on the WHOIS database.
Will NetSelect handle my Private Domain Registration?
No. Our affiliate company, Domains By Proxy, Inc. (DBP) will handle all of your private domain needs. You will get world-class support when dealing with DBP. This includes 24-7 telephone support, a well-supported web board, and a responsive staff eager to answer your questions.
What can I expect from Domains By Proxy (DBP)?
Immediately after enrolling in private domain registration, you will receive an email from Domains By Proxy (DBP). In the email, you will be given a Customer Number for your DBP account. Your PASSWORD will be the SAME as your NetSelect account.
NOTE: Whenever you change the PASSWORD on your NetSelect account, you will also need to update your PASSWORD on your DBP account. For security reasons, changing one password DOES NOT change the other.
In addition, after enrolling in private domain registration, your personal information will be immediately blocked from the WHOIS database. There is no waiting time and no system updates needed for your private domain registration to go into effect.
Can I enroll future Domain Name purchases with Private Domain Registration?
Yes. Each time that you register a new domain name you will be asked in your Shopping Cart if you would like private domain registration. Upon selecting YES, the Shopping Cart will ask you if you would care to use your existing DBP account number or set up a new DBP account. You will need to have your DBP Customer Number at this time, otherwise the system will set up a new DBP account.
